This remarkable specimen is a Koelreuteria fruit with seeds. This has superb preservation and at least two seeds can be seen inside the fruit. The fruit is 6.5 cm across.
This genus belong to the "Lychee" or "Soapberry" family Sapindaceae and is seen in the Green River Formation by several different leaf, seed, and fruit types including the example seen here. Today Koelreuteria has three living tree species that are native to southern and eastern Asia.
